The fact of carrying Android does not change in the DNA and software of the BlackBerry smartphones and the company continues to prioritize the security and privacy, and the company has moved and adapted its software to the operating system of Google. What we see in the BlackBerry KEYone is the shortcut tab, which we can customize in a slight way and the DTEK permission management app itself.
In BlackBerry KEYone, this app allows us to better control the permissions we give to the apps, so that we can customize a barrier when we are downloading the apps that exceed the permissions at our discretion. When we are opening the app, it will tell us the security status of the device according to its own security criteria, in the case we tried to put ‘poor’ being able to improve it by looking at each security section.
If we do not have DTEK configured to block the installations or warn us in the BlackBerry KEYone, we can download any app without any permissions to be asked and we can check it by downloading a few, although there is much to configure and it requires a while on our part to leave the security to the letter. As for the side tab of the shortcuts, this is where we detect a few pulsations without response, although sometimes these first sample phones have somewhat immature software.
As for the fluency, it is more or less what is expected for a current mid-range device with a few minimal and sporadic lags when we are opening the app drawer or those we have discussed in the tab, so it is not so much better in multitasking or passing between the webpages, but it is nothing annoying and that as we comment we cannot rule out that it is due to the state of the maturity of the software. Of course, it did not help to play the DTEK60 we had for stand companion with a Snapdragon 820 and that was like lightning.
BlackBerry KEYone leaves us wanting to try it more thoroughly, especially to see the software security of which they boast of, how it bears that camera with a semi-manual mode outdoors and the screen, and if the design and the comfort they offer make it a competitive device in a clearer way for the users that comes from the virtual keyboard of BlackBerry KEYone.
