There are many things to keep in mind when performing local search engine optimization, rather than general search engine that most of us in the industry are accustomed to. Google really has different factors in considering with local SEO then it does with the traditional search engine optimization. Some of the things that are taken into account that you do not usually have to worry about when it comes to ranking for general keywords will include whether the site has a number of local business listings that point to it as further proof that it is a local business address and phone number which appear on the website, and whether or not, it is close to the central location keywords they are trying to rank for, and if the company has any comments listed for it.

Local Business Profile

One of the most important aspects of local search engine optimization is the presence of local businesses. In Google’s eyes, the fact that it is included in the local business directory shows that you are, in fact, a local business, and it is part of the process of proving you deserve your ranking for local keywords. Local business ads will allow you to not only promote your business but also give potential customers several different routes that you can take to find your business. Many local business listing services also rank well in Google for the terms that are related to your business, and in fact, can be a great way to drive traffic to your website in the long run.

Address and Telephone Number

The traditional search engine optimization professionals may not be aware that the local SEO also takes the address and phone number of the company into account. The address compares with the downtown place of the related city keywords you are trying to rank for, and an effort to determine if your business is a viable option for people living in that city. This is done in an effort to ensure that you are not trying to rank for the keywords in cities that you cannot really offer services to, since search engine users are only looking for local businesses and list the companies that are outside the service area would not be in the best interest of the users. Ensure that the cities you are ranking are close enough to your business locations to ensure that users get the best overall experience.

Reviews

You also need to try putting together reviews of previous clients through multiple websites. This is an indicator to Google that your business has helped people in the past, and has a track record to prove it. You will find that the surveys also direct traffic to your website when they are positive, and will allow you to put together a list of unsolicited testimonials for your website as well.

There are many things to keep in mind when looking for local SEO that is not often required for more general keywords.
