Donkey Kong
The story of Donkey Kong began with an Arcade video game from 1981 called Donkey Kong. It was developed entirely by Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario Bros.
In it, he appears as a carpenter, named Jumpman (later known as Mario), who must rescue his girlfriend, Pauline, from the claws of a giant gorilla, Donkey Kong, dodging all the objects that the gorilla throws at him and get to remove some screws to drop all the platforms and thus make Donkey Kong fall into the void and rescue Pauline. Once this is done, the game begins again.
The Donkey Kong also appears in the 1983 Donkey Kong Junior Arcade video game, a sequel to the previous one. This time the player controls the son of Donkey Kong, who has to rescue his father who has been locked by Mario in a cage.
Later, they began to create games in which the character Donkey Kong was the protagonist, including Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong Land and Donkey Kong 64.
Since the launch of Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong Junior goes on to Donkey Kong, also known as DK, while his father, the original Donkey Kong, is already an old gorilla and would be called Cranky Kong.
With the simple mechanics, the gorilla, accompanied by some of his friends, had to overcome a series of obstacles and defeat the enemies while taking as many bananas as possible before reaching the end. It is in these games that King K. Rool, an evil lizard, is shown for the first time as a villain in Donkey Kong video games.
After several years of minor titles and without being very clear where to route the saga, Nintendo announced in E3 of the year 2010 a new installment of the Donkey Kong Country saga developed by Retro Studios, Donkey Kong Country Returns.
Diddy Kong
Diddy Kong is a chimpanzee and Donkey Kong’s best friend. His first appearance was in the game Donkey Kong Country. He has appeared in many Donkey Kong video games such as Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest, Donkey Kong 64 and Diddy Kong Racing, but his first appearance in a Mario game was in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour in 2003, in all Mario sports games, in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! And Mario Kart Wii as a playable character.
